Title: Automotive Control Systems and Related Developments

Abstract:

This talk will summarize some of the developments in automotive dynamic modeling and control, with an emphasis on advanced and R&D efforts in vehicle dynamics and control at Ford. This will include the following:

● Design and evaluation of (advanced) Traction Control and related pioneering efforts in Model Predictive Controls and their extensions / applications to other automotive areas ranging from Idle Speed Control to Driveline and Semi-Active Suspension Control;

● Active safety and Interactive Vehicle Dynamics and Control: present efforts / future opportunities and potential developments and enhancements including industrial-first Roll Stability Control (RSC);

●  Tools and methods for evaluation of various advanced and production power train and vehicle control concepts including the autonomous steering robot drive vehicle setup.

As time permits, the presentation will also give a brief overview of a number of other automotive system modeling and control applications and important related activities.

 

Bio:

Davor Hrovat博士是汽车控制领域的国际权威。他于1972年在University of Zagreb获得Dipl. Ing 学位,并分别于1976 和1979 年在University of California, Davis获得硕士和博士学位。从1981年至今,Hrovat博士一直在福特汽车公司从事和领导汽车底盘、动力系统和整车控制方面的研发工作,拥有超过50项专利。

Hrovat博士于2006年当选为控制领域的首位Technical Fellow,是4位在职的Technical Fellow之一,Technical Fellow是福特汽车公司的最高技术荣誉。他也是ASME、IEEE、IFAC的Fellow。由于在汽车控制领域的杰出成就,Hrovat博士于2006年当选为美国工程院院士。
